Dating in the salsa scene

Upon walking into my Sunday afternoon dance class I noticed a young man sitting silently by the window at the front of the dance studio.I generally make an effort to introduce myself to newcomers to the class, but the instructors started playing music before I had a chance to speak to him.But trust me ladies and gentleman, it’s for everyone’s own good. You will never improve as a dancer if you don’t test yourself and dance with other people—if you get too used to dancing with just one guy, you won’t actually learn how to follow, you’ll just memorize your guy’s moves and it will get boring really fast. The post below was written by Melissa West-Koistila.

If you can’t trust them to honor your relationship, you shouldn’t start one.

Is it all about finding romantic partners, either short or long term? There’s no denying that at the intro level of dance there is a component of looking to meet romantic partners – for at least some people.

There are lots of guys who end up in my Beginners class to meet a girl (or because they’re dating a girl who likes to dance).

However, I recognize that it’s different for me as an instructor and Salsa addict than it is for someone who has maybe never danced before.

So that caveat aside, yes, I do think that taking Salsa classes and then going out dancing socially would be an excellent date.
